TORONTO (WIVB) - The Buffalo Bills will play five more regular season games in Toronto - one in each of the next five seasons, after signing a five-year extension Tuesday.
The deal also includes one preseason game in 2015.
"It is very important to our organization, moving forward in today's NFL... that we regionalize our brand," said Bills President Russ Brandon.
Brandon said that over the last five years, the number of fans coming to Ralph Wilson Stadium from southern Ontario for games has increased from 11% to more than 20%.
Bills center Eric Wood called the Toronto Series "a joke" this season, and Brandon acknowledged the fact that a Rogers Centre crowd is not the same as the Ralph.
The Bills are just 1-4 in five games at the Rogers Centre, including a blowout loss to Seattle this season. Both Brandon and Bills Head Coach Doug Marrone said today, the team needs to win more often in Toronto to make this deal work out for both parties.
