Long pass routes highlight afternoon practice

PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Ryan Fitzpatrick aired it out Thursday, as the Bills focused on more deep patterns in training camp.

The biggest highlight featured a long touchdown pass from Fitzpatrick to Derek Hagan, who has impressed Head Coach Chan Gailey so far in camp.

"Derek Hagan is working his rear end off out there," said Gailey. "It is a great thing to see. He wants to make this football team and wants to be a big part of our offense. He has done a good job. He made some big plays out there today."

Defensive end Shawne Merriman had plenty of reps with the first-team, and provided constant pressure.

GM Buddy Nix has been looking for extra depth at the safety position, and he brought in free agent Jim Leonhard for a visit today.  Leonhard, who played for the Bills to begin his career, has battled injuries over the last couple seasons.

The Bills will return to practice Friday from 3pm-5:30pm.
