ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Chris Kelsay's season is over, after the Bills placed the veteran defensive end on Injured Reserve Wednesday.
Kelsay aggravated a torn neck ligament two weeks ago and has missed three of the last four games.
"I understand where Buddy (Nix) and Chan (Gailey) are coming from," said Kelsay. "It doesn't do you much good having a guy take up a roster spot that's not on the field... I understand and respect their decision."
Gailey said the decision came down to the uncertainty of how long it would take for Kelsay to recover.
"It's one of those unknowns, really. You don't know how bad it is until he gets hit again," said Gailey.
The Bills already had a roster spot open, after releasing linebacker Kirk Morrison this week. They filled both slots today, calling up cornerback T.J. Heath and guard Keith Williams from the practice squad.
