Bills Release Vince Young

Young Struggled in Saturday's Preseason Game

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Vince Young not only played himself out of the Bills' back-up quarterback slot Saturday night, he played himself out of a job. The Bills released the veteran quarterback Monday.

The move came just before Buffalo announced a trade for QB Tarvaris Jackson.

Young had been battling Tyler Thigpen for the #2 quarterback job, and Bills Head Coach Chan Gailey said Young had the edge going into Saturday's preseason game against Pittsburgh.

But after a dismal performance in that game, including two interceptions, Buffalo is going in a different direction.

Young sent out a message from his Twitter account this morning, thanking the Bills: "I want to thank the Bills organization for the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season".

The Bills released an updated depth chart this afternoon, with Jackson listed as the new #2 QB.
