BUFFALO, NY (WIVB.com) - The Bills have signed assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel Doug Whaley to a contract extension. Whaley has been with the organization since 2010. Whaley works hand-in-hand with current GM Buddy Nix.

"I am happy that we have secured Doug's services into the future and look forward to a smooth transition of the position when the time comes," said Bills GM Buddy Nix.

It has become common knowledge that Whaley will likely take over for Nix as GM when the time comes. However, Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon has not provided a time table for the transition.

"We are very pleased with the structure of our football operation and look forward to working with Buddy, Doug and the entire staff for many years to come,” said Brandon. “As we have stated previously, there is no timetable for the transition. Our focus continues to be on building the foundation for a winning program."
