ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Bills quickly filled their two open roster spots today, signing cornerback Crezdon Butler and offensive tackle Thomas Welch.
"We have had our eye on Crezdon Butler for a while now," said Head Coach Chan Gailey. "Buddy (Nix) has always liked him. He is a guy that we looked at a few weeks ago when Arizona let him go. We were trying to get him at that time, but it did not work out. Now it worked out that we had a spot and were able to get him."
Butler comes over from the Cardinals' practice squad. The 6-1, 191-pound cornerback is a former fifth-round draft pick.
Welch was a seventh-round selection in 2010. He is a 6-7, 310-pound tackle out of Vanderbilt.
The two roster spots opened after the Bills placed Terrence McGee and Erik Pears on Injured Reserve Tuesday. Both McGee and Pears will need surgery, according to Gailey.
