INDIANAPOLIS (WIVB) - Most of the quarterbacks at the combine understand the perception that there is not an instant "franchise" caliber QB in this year's draft. They also don't necessarily agree with that idea.
Every QB at the combine stood in front of the media Friday, answering questions about arm strength, leadership, and why they should be the first quarterback off the board.
"The difference in this class... none of the hype has separated one or two from the rest," said Bills general manager Buddy Nix.
Nix says he has between six and eight quarterbacks he is keeping an eye on, but he won't reach for one in the first round if Nix doesn't believe he is worthy of that selection.
Each of the marquee QB's in this year's draft carries a few question marks, since many seemed to take a step back on the field last season.
USC QB Matt Barkley is not throwing at the Combine, still recovering from a separated shoulder. He says he is on track to throw at his pro day next month.
Among the highest-rated quarterbacks are Barkley, West Virginia's Geno Smith, Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson, NC State's Mike Glennon, and Florida State's EJ Manuel.
