Bills merchandise flying off the shelf

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - After losing to the New England Patriots 15 straight times, the Buffalo Bills are celebrating Sunday's huge come from behind victory. Are fans now scooping up merchandise?

"Fandemonium" has returned to Bills' country and the team's meteoric success on the field is turning into a bonanza off the field.

That last second field goal beating the Patriots has Bills' fans daring to dream about this season instead of who to draft next year. As we saw at the Bills' Store, they're now wearing team jerseys proudly rather than under their jackets.

Louise Wolanske said, "I think they are awesome. Kelly era all over again, except better!"

Wolanske is a die-hard Bills fan who came up from Ashville to pick up a few last minute items before heading to an exclusive Buffalo Bills-only watering hole in Florida.

"Well, my husband's birthday is Friday. So I wanted to make sure I got my stuff before we left. I wanted to make sure that I had the hats and jerseys so we can celebrate well," said Wolanske.

But at sporting goods stores across western New York, like LAUX at the Walden Galleria, Bills' merchandise is flying off the shelves - except for jerseys that are on back order.

LAUX store manager Mike Miller said, "Jerseys, hats. Basically more jerseys than anything. Right now, Fitzpatrick, Johnson [are the most popular]."

At Kettle's, down the street from Wilson Stadium, the Bills are boosting business on game day in a good way.

Kattle's day manager Joan Vecchio joked, "It is good for business, but I think they are drinking less because they don't have to drink away their sorrows as much."

The Bills 3-0 start is also boosting ticket sales, which ticket re-seller Nick Giammusso said is a huge reversal.

"People are even calling for the away game," said Giammusso.

The Bengals only had 43,000 fans Sunday, their smallest crowd for a home opener in 20 years. As you might expect, with the Bills' boost in ticket sales, Giammusso said prices on the secondary market are creeping up.
