Edwards at QB for first practice at camp

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Bills hit the field for their first training camp practice, answering one of their biggest questions: Who's the starting quarterback?

Trent Edwards took the snaps with the first team offense. Thursday is just the first day of the battle.

The Bills first practice of the 2010 summer camp started at 3 p.m. on Thursday, the first of 27 practices in this camp, and they'll have eight days of two-a-days. That's quite a step up from recent years, with Head Coach Chan Gailey pushing hard.

"I don't know. I know that we've got more two-a-days, which, you know, that's part of camp, you gotta do it. I know that he's stressed toughness, and team, and being smart. So I think we're going to work on those things. I don't know how long practice is going to be, but I would anticipate us getting after it pretty good," said defensive nose tackle Kyle Williams.

Outside linebacker Chris Kelsay said, "Coach Gailey and his staff, I believe brings more of a disciplinary feel. It's not just the meeting rooms, practice field, obviously, but the entire atmosphere around the organization, and I think that's what we need."

Gailey is establishing his quarterback pecking order, just one of many question marks surrounding the team. All those question marks add up to low expectations for the Bills this year. The experts figure that they will finish last in the AFC East.

"I don't know if they've ever picked us to win the division. This will be my fifth year. I'm pretty sure they haven't. It's all about, this is the whole clique, you know, we're here, and we gotta work one day at a time because that's the only way we're going to change anyone's opinion is winning football games on Sunday," said Williams.

The Bills are clearly under the radar, with outsiders holding out very little hope. Now they are on the field at training camp, and the field is the only place where they can prove those doubters wrong.
