The Bills have jumped into their rookie pool, by signing their first two draft picks. Sixth round CB Carey Harris (USC) and seventh round CB Ellis Lankster (West Virginia) become the first draft picks to sign.
Harris was the team's 6th round pick. He was a three-year starter for the Trojans. He was hurt for most of the OTA workouts, and only began to practice towards the end of the sessions. He will have to battle for a roster spot at a deep position for the Bills.
Lankster was taken in the seventh round. He was one of the more impressive rookies at the OTA sessions. At times, Lankster took some snaps with the first and second team when starting corners Terrence McGee and Leodis McKelvin were hurt. He also had at least one nice interception during the workouts. Like Harris, Lankster faces an uphill battle for a backup spot at corner. Behind the starters, the Bills have Drayton Florence, Reggie Corner and Ashton Youboty.
The Bills six remaining draft picks, including first rounders Aaron Maybin and Eric Wood, still remain unsigned. Training camp begins on July 25.
