Orchard Park - The Bills search for a new head coach continues and Mike Shanahan is very high on their list. But sources tell News 4 Sports that as of Sunday, Shanahan had not heard directly from the Bills and no meeting was scheduled.
The Bills are conducting back-channel talks with Shanahan
through intermediaries, the way they did already with Jon Gruden.
Shanahan is telling friends in football he expects to hear from the
Bills but he also says he wants to see if there are other vacancies
that open in the NFL. Our sources say Shanahan may be
more interested in possible vacacies in Dallas, Houston. or
Washington. But he is prepared to listen to the Bills.
Meantime, ESPN reports the Bills have reached out to former
Steelers Super Bowl Coach Bill Cowher. And Cowher has told them
he's not interested in interviewing. Cowher reportedly wants to
wait until the season ends before he decides on his future and he
does not want to interview for a job that he's not going to accept.
