ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Doug Marrone signed with the Buffalo Bills Monday, to be the team's 16th head coach.

"I can't tell you how excited I am to be the head football coach," said Marrone. He went on to say he is excited to have his family move to Buffalo, New York. Marrone has lived and worked in the state at different times throughout his life.

Before coaching the Syracuse Orange, Marrone spent seven years as an NFL assistant, first as the offensive line for the Jets under Head Coach Herm Edwards for four seasons, then as the Saints offensive coordinator for three years.

"You need to be in a place you are most comfortable, and I'm most comfortable here in western New York," said Marrone.

"I am especially excited to work with the players," said Marrone. "I want them to know I'll be in communication with them, obviously there is a lot of work to be done."

"As soon as we're done here, we're going to get to work," said Marrone.

"When you're the head football coach you want to make sure you're surely CEO of the program," said Marrone.

Marrone says he takes offense, when people say he is an offensive coach. Marrone said, "I have a great understanding of defensive football, as well as special teams."
