PITTSFORD, NY (WIVB) - Chan Gailey's "Pecking Order" at quarterback now has an order: Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brian Brohm. As the Bills held their first training camp practice, Edwards took the first snaps with the starting offense.

He was followed by Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm. Rookie Levi Brown is the other quarterback on the roster.

When the team moved to its 11 on 11 segment, Edwards once again took the first snaps. That's usually the best indicator of who will lead the starting offense.

Head Coach Chan Gailey explained his decision.

"After evaluating all the OTA and minicamp things, we just felt like Trent [Edwards] deserved to start the training camp with the first group. We’ll have the other guys, Fitz [Ryan Fitzpatrick] and Brian [Brohm] alternating with the twos during the course of the first few weeks here. And then we’ll get Levi [Brown] as many reps as we can get him. But that was how we evaluated it coming out of the OTAs"

Edwards is not celebrating, knowing the competition will continue.

"Honestly, it just means I’m working with the ones right now. I feel like I still have a lot to learn, a long way to go, but I must [have been] doing something right in the OTAs and mini-camps, so it’s nice that you’re appreciated for what you’ve done in the past. But that’s in the past now, we need to grow off that and get ready for the Dolphins [in] week one."

Gailey said that Edwards made more plays during the spring OTA's and minicamps. He also indicated that Fitzpatrick and Brohm will compete for the #2 quarterback spot.

In other Bills news, the team has placed Aaron Schobel on the reserve/did not report list. This allows the team to save his roster spot until the veteran defensive lineman decides to show up. Injured defenders Jon Corto (wrist) and Nic Harris (knee) were placed on the physically unable to perform list. Both are expected to miss a few weeks of practice.

During the first practice, outside linebacker Chris Kelsay was injured, hurting his shoulder. Gailey said he could be out for a while.
