Bills season ticket total drops

Still 5th highest total in last 15 years

Ralph Wilson Stadium - The Bills are gearing up for a new season with season ticket sales down from the year before. They’ve lost about 20% of their season ticket total from the near record totals of 2009.

According to reports, the Bills have sold 43, 925 season tickets for the upcoming campaign. That’s 20% fewer than the 55,368 season tickets sold last season. But it is the fifth highest total since the Bills Super Bowl era ended in 1995.

The 2009 totals were the second consecutive year the Bills have sold more than 55,000 season tickets, the first time that’s happened in franchise history. The Bills have sold 40,000 or more season tickets for eight consecutive years.

The Bills say there are a number of factors involved in the lower season ticket sales for 2010.

“We have great fans,” says Bills GM Buddy Nix. “I think some of the dip in ticket sales you could attribute to a lot of things that may not be that they don’t like the Bills, or they don’t believe in the Bills, because I think they do.”

“The fans, to me, the way you change them, is to win a game,” Nix says. “The fans—if you win one, they think you’re gonna win ‘em all. If you lose one, they think you’ll never win another. So that’s typical, and what we’ve gotta do is win some.”
