Report: Nix talks QB during prank call

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The website Deadspin.com posted an audio conversation late Tuesday morning, that they say is between Buffalo Bills General Manager Buddy Nix and Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik. The website says two pranksters managed to merge separate calls together, leading Nix and Dominik to believe they were on a private call.

The two general managers spoke about the challenges they both face during free agency, which begins Tuesday at 4 p.m.

During the call, Nix spoke frankly about Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, saying “We’re still struggling here with our quarterback, you know Fitzpatrick, I say struggling, we’re not really struggling, he's going to have to do something, or you know we'll have to."

He added, "We just can't afford to pay that kind of money for a guy who's fighting for probably a backup job."

Nix went on to discuss that with a dependable quarterback “everything’s easy” during free agency.

The Buffalo Bills responded to the report Tuesday, saying, "We are aware of the report on Deadspin involving a phone conversation with Bills GM Buddy Nix. We have made the league aware of the report and are reviewing it with legal counsel."

The pranksters appear to have contacted each of the general managers, claiming to be the other general manager. They had Nix and Dominik returning their calls, and were eventually able to patch the calls together. Deadspin.com reports the pranksters put the call on speaker phone and recorded the call, while listening.
