Search is on for new head coach

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Russ Brandon is now president and general manager of the Buffalo Bills, and he wasted little time trying to find a new Bills head coach. Reports say he, along with Bills General Manager Buddy Nix and Assistant General Manager Doug Whaley, are on the road interviewing perspectives.

Reports say that the trio interviewed Ken Whisenhunt in Arizona Tuesday night. Whisenhunt was fired as Cardinals head coach Monday. Whisenhunt led the Cardinals to the Super Bowl in the 2008 season. Whisenhunt won a Super Bowl as offensive coordinator of the Steelers in the 2005 season.

Brandon, Nix and Whaley are set to interview Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton in Arizona Wednesday.

Another coach fired Monday, Lovie Smith, has reportedly shown interest in the Bills job. Smith’s Bears teams went 81-63 during his tenure, with a Super Bowl appearance in 2007.

Once college coach reportedly has an interview set up with the Bills. Syracuse Coach Doug Marrone compiled a 25-25 record in his four years with the Orange. Previous to Syracuse, Marrone worked under the Saints Sean Payton as Offensive Coordinator from 2006 through 2008.

The search is on and there is plenty of competition for the big name coaches on the market. Six other NFL franchises are looking for head coaches at the same time as the Bills.
