Bills Training Camp - Last Friday, it was Ryan Fitzpatrick's turn.  This week..it's Brian Brohm.

It's the battle for the backup quarterback spot on the Bills roster, and Head Coach Chan Gailey is sticking to his original plan.  He'll start Trent Edwards against the Colts Thursday night in Toronto, then let 3rd year man Brian Brohm get the bulk of the snaps the rest of the way.  The plan is for Ryan Fitzpatrick to get the  night off.

"He's gonna take it right after Trent's done this week," Gailey says.  "We'll see how he does.  We'll try to get him as many plays as we got Fitz last week."

"This will be my first game action of the year," Brohm said after the Monday night workout.  "It's always good to get out there and get that first throw under your belt.  Hopefully I'll be able to get into a good rhythm."

Brohm was in rhythm on the first play of the two minute drill Monday night.  He threw the best looking pass of the practice, a 40-yard strike to Naaman Roosevelt.

"It feels good to get it started like that," Brohm said.  "We just need to go down there and finish the drive and get some points on the board."

The Bills running game should have a different look in the second preseason game.  The top two backs, Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch, are on the sidelines with injures suffered against the Redskins Friday night.  Lynch has a sprained ankle, and Gailey says he could be available to return for the final preseason game on September 2nd.  Jackson has a broken ring finger on his left hand, and he says the doctors have told him he'll be out four to six weeks.

"Hopefully, it won't be that long," Jackson said Monday morning.  "I want to get back as soon as I can.  My thoughts are that I definitely want to be back by the opener, so that's what I'm shooting for, anyway."

With Jackson and Lynch sidelined, the Bills signed rookie RB Andre Anderson Monday morning.  Anderson spent time in the Raiders OTA work during the offseason. They also added WR depth, by signing rookie free agent Aaron Rhea, who was cut the Vikings three weeks ago.  The team waived LB Ryan Manalac to make room.

They may have to make room for a couple of defensive starters on Thursday night.  Gailey said he hopes to have LBs Paul Posluszny and Chris Kelsay ready to return against the Colts.  They've seen limited work as they come back from nagging injuries.
