Orchard Park, NY - The day before the Super Bowl we find out if the Pro Football
Hall of Fame will welcome some more Buffalo Bills. Andre Reed,
Ralph Wilson, and Bruce Smith are all among the 15 finalists..
Selectors for the hall meet in Tampa a week from Saturday and
it's expected that Bruce Smith will get in. Not so certain are the
prospects for Wide Receiver Andre Reed. Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo
News, the Buffalo selector for the Hall, says some voters are
reluctant to put too many wide receivers in..
"There is a concern about the great numbers being put up by wide receivers," Gaughan says. "If you just go by numbers, the door of the Hall of Fame might swing too wide open, and too many receivers might get in, and you'd have the wide receiver wing of the hall of fame. I think there is a general attidude of let's be careful and wait, and see how all the numbers hash out"
Gaughan says he's confident Andre Reed will eventually be in the
Hall. He also thinks team owner Ralph Wilson has a good
chance for election this year.
