BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Three big changes for the Buffalo Bisons Tuesday - each of which, carried a sense of familiarity.
The Bisons unveiled the team's new logo, putting a new spin on the team's logo from the 1980's and early 90's. They also officially introduced new manager Marty Brown, who previously coached in Buffalo from 2003-2005, and signed local product Jim Negrych.
Brown managed the Blue Jays' former AAA affiliate in Las Vegas the last two seasons, and says the organization cares about putting a winner on the field in Buffalo.
"They understand what comes with being in Buffalo," said Brown. "Winning is a part of development. I think in Buffalo, we don't stand for anything less."
For Negrych, it is a homecoming of sorts. The St. Francis grad was a AAA All-Star last season with Syracuse. While he is looking forward to playing at home, Negrych ultimately wants his chance in the big leagues with Toronto.
"Obviously, knowing that Buffalo is their minor league AAA affiliate mattered," said Negrych. "For the most part I wanted to be in an organization that respected me as a player."
Negrych's contract comes complete with an invitation to spring training with the Blue Jays.
