COLUMBUS, OH (WIVB) - The growing scandal at Ohio State has claimed head coach Jim Tressel. Now, it has involved a Western New York native. Doug Worthington is one of 28 current or former Buckeyes accused of selling their memorabilia, a violation of NCAA rules.
Worthington is a Buffalo native who played at St. Francis High School. He was a Buckeyes defensive lineman from 2005 to 2009, and a former Ohio State captain.
A Sports Illustrated cover story released Monday night, an unnamed source lists Worthington as one of the former players who made trades or sold his memorabilia in exchange for tatoos or cash.
Attempts to reach Worthington by News 4 Sports have been unsuccessful.
Worthington was drafted by the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, and is currently a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
