Gailey: "I expect to be undefeated"

BIlls coach sets high standard for the season

It may sound funny for the coach of a team coming off a 4-12 season.  But it shows how much Chan Gailey believes in the Bills, and how much he expects from them.

At his usual Wednesday media briefing before the Chiefs game, Gailey was asked about the low expectations for his team from national media and many local fans.  His response was a display of how much he believes in his players.

"I expect it. I think our players expect it. If you don’t expect it, something’s wrong with you. If you say, “Well I hope we’re a little bit better than last year,” you ought to get out. That’s wrong. I expect to win every one of them. I expect to be undefeated. That’s the way I’ve always been and that’s the way I’ll always be. I want to be 1-0 after this one and who ever we play second I want to be 2-0."

In other news from Wednesday's practice, Gailey said that Demetrius Bell will be the starting left offensive tackle.  That had been in doubt when the Bills gave snaps to Andy Levitre, citing Bell's lack of consistency....Gailey said the team had three starting cornerbacks, and would not designate two starters among Leodis McKelvin, Terrence McGee and Drayton Florence....Ryan Fitzpatrick will make the first opening day start of his career, and just the second appearance in an opening day game. In 2007, with Cincinnati, Fitzpatrick had to come in and hold, dropped the snap, and forced the Bengals to miss the extra point in a game against Baltimore.
