BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The page is turned. The Griffs are on the rise! Two weekends
ago, this was the scene at 15th ranked Air Force. Canisius stole a
pair of games from the nationally ranked Falcons.
"It says we have a lot of character, a lot of heart, knowing
that we are playing against a ranked team and we haven't won 13
games against one of them. It's a great feeling knowing that we did
come out with a win and I was proud of it," Dave Kostuch, Leads
Griffs in goals scored.
"Our reward comes in the 2 victories. But, it's not the end of the year, and it's not the end of a program. It's just one step along the way," Dave Smith, Canisius Hockey Coach.
The way to a playoff spot that is. The Griffs goal is to
finish in the top 4 of their league so they can win home ice in the
postseason.
"We're on the rise. We're very confident, we feel like we can
compete with anyone in the nation right now. So, I'm, excited at
what we can do," Vincent Scarsella, Griffs forward.
"We actually gave them a quote today and it was reputations
aren't built on what you are going to do. It's what you do
now. We believe in ourselves here, we see how hard we work
every day, but we have to show everyone else that we can get
results week in and week out," Smith.
Another sign that the Griffs program is on the rise: three of
their players have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award which
goes to the nations top player.
Next up for the Griffs: they are home on Friday and
Saturday hosting Sacred Heart.
