SOUTH BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Chicago Blackhawks forward, Pat Kane is back at home in South Buffalo after a trip to the Western Conference Finals.

The reigning NHL rookie of the year managed to avoid a sophomore slump this past season. Buffalo's Pat Kane continues to exceed expectations. He posted 34-goals and had 50-assists for the Chicago Blackhawks this past season. And his year extended into the postseason, and a hat trick against Vancouver he will never forget.

"I don't know how many times I've you tubed that, I've watched every clip of it, whether it's from the stands or hockey night in Canada, Versus, whatever it may be," Kane told News 4 Sports. " It's pretty fun to look back on it, it's definitely one of the best moments of my life."

And life has changed for Kane.

"It's unbelievable from one year to another, how much you can get recognized in a city,' he says. " I was telling people, they look at the side of your face now and they reognize you, which is sometimes nice if it's a good looking girls seeing you. My family there's a lot of requests for jerseys and stuff, so that's why I tell my parents to handle all that, so I don't have to worry about it, just worry about being a regular kid again."

Despite becoming one of the NHL's biggest stars in the last two seasons, Pat continues to appreciate his biggest fans-- his family and friends in Buffalo."

"You can always tell whether you have a good or bad game, if you're coming out and checking messages after a game. After game six, where I had the hat trick I had like 69-messages, ten missed calls, a couple of voice mails. Then we lose 6-1 to Detroit, and I come out and I get five messages, and I was like, wow, this wasn't good game."

It's because of that support that Pat has decided to spend his summer in Buffalo.
