Buffalo, N.Y. (WIVB) - Kim Truesdell battled breast cancer in both 2002 and 2009. Despite the treatments and surgeries she endured during that time, she continued to run on a daily basis. After her diagnosis in 2002 she participating in an ironman triathlon, consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. Following her 2009 diagnosis, she ran in the San Diego Marathon. Kim believes running eliminated side effects that many cancer patients experience from treatments. She also credits exercise for keeping her mentally strong throughout her battles against the disease.
