PHOENIX (WIVB) - Bills defensive end Mark Anderson will miss significant time with a knee injury, but is expected to return before the end of the season.
Anderson went down late in Sunday's blowout loss to the 49ers. The injury will require surgery, sidelining Anderson indefinitely.
That leaves Mario Williams, Chris Kelsay, and Kyle Moore as the only healthy defensive ends on the roster. The team is already without defensive tackle Spencer Johnson, who missed last week's game with an ankle injury.
"You want to give our coaches the best we can to work with," said Bills GM Buddy Nix. "And when you have all those injuries at one spot... we lose four out of nine offensive linemen and two out of eight defensive linemen."
The Bills signed offensive lineman Reggie Wells Tuesday to fill in along the offensive line, although Bills Head Coach Chan Gailey said today, he will likely not be up to speed on the offense quickly enough to be able to play this week against Arizona.
