Steve Geltz is on his way to the big leagues. The former Wilson High School and U.B. star will join the Angels today, after receiving his first call-up.
Geltz, who signed with the Angels as a free agent in 2008, had an 0-1 record with AAA Salt Lake, putting up a 3.76 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 26.1 innings of work.
He began the season in AA, where he posted a 0.36 ERA and 37 K's in 25.1 innings.
Geltz is the first former UB player to reach the Majors since Joe Hesketh finished his career in 1994.
