Purple Eagles hold a half-game lead in MAAC

Niagara came into Thursday night with a chance to clinch at least a share of the regular season MAAC Championship. Now they're holding on for dear life, after a 68-59 loss to Rider.

The loss shrinks NU's conference lead to just half a game over Loyola, and one game over Canisius, who topped St. Peter's in overtime tonight, 77-65.

Juan'ya Green led Niagara with a game-high 27 points, but he was the only Purple Eagle in double figures. Rider completed a season sweep of NU with the win.

Billy Baron scored 23 for Canisius. The Griffs bench didn't score a single point, but Canisius still found a way to win.

Niagara wraps up the regular season this Saturday at home against St. Peters, while Canisius will host Rider that afternoon.
