MONTREAL (WIVB) - Steve Ott found himself on the Sabres' top line for the first time this year. After two goals - including the OT winner - it looks like a smart move by Head Coach Ron Rolston.
After giving up a two-goal lead in the third period, Ott's overtime strike preserved the 3-2 win over Montreal Tuesday night.
Ott scored the last goal of the night, he also scored the first to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead. Later in the first period, Tyler Ennis tipped in a shot from Tyler Myers to push the lead to 2-0.
Montreal came back with two scores in the third period, and nearly had another. Jhonas Enroth made a big glove save with less than a minute on the clock to keep Montreal off the board and force overtime.
Ott then scored the game-winner on a power play goal to get Buffalo back in the win column.
The Sabres will host Toronto Thursday night at 7pm.
Leading-scorer Thomas Vanek left the game in the second period with a lower body injury and did not return. He is listed as day-to-day.
