BUFFALO, NY (WIVB.com) - University at Buffalo right tackle Gokhan "Gio" Ozkan aspires to be the second Turkish-Born athlete to play in the NFL.  Ozkan's Pro Day, which is essentially a tryout for the NFL, is set for March 5th. However, Ozkan's journey started long before he ever stepped foot on a football field.

"When I was six-years old I came to Brooklyn from Turkey, from Istanbul more specifically. I started in a one-bedroom apartment with me my mother and my brother," said Ozkan.

"My dad is a New York City taxi driver and my mom works in the hospital with cardiology," Ozkan explained.

Through his family's journey, Ozkan learned about hard work and determination.  He applies those attributes to whatever challenge he faces.

Ozkan said, "I am not a high profile guy but I will put everything on the table for a team I am playing for."

Ozkan's parents achieved the American dream and now he wants to show his gratitude by making his own wishes come true.
