AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - After back-to-back wins in Florida, the Sabres returned to practice in Western New York today, feeling like they are on the verge of turning the corner.
"We're improving, that's what we wanted," said captain Jason Pominville.
Buffalo topped Tampa Bay 2-1 Tuesday night, then slipped past the Panthers in a shootout Thursday to pick up four points during the team's Sunshine State swing.
"We're getting more in that mentality where we're doing more things right consistently," said interim Head Coach Ron Rolston.
Buffalo hosts New Jersey Saturday at 3pm, trying to record three straight wins for the first time this season.
Ville Leino, who has missed every game this season because of an injury, said he is getting close to returning. Rolston said both Leino and Jordan Leopold are making strides, and could return in the near future.
