HOUSTON - Just two days after being traded from Oklahoma City to Houston, Lazar Hayward is a man without a team. The Rockets released Hayward today.
The former first-round NBA draft pick has bounced around a bit in his brief professional career, getting traded three times in two years. He was mostly a bench player last season for the Thunder.
Saturday, Hayward was part of the James Harden trade, but his stay in Houston would be short-lived.
Hayward played his high school ball at Buffalo Traditional, then went to prep school for a year before turning into a star at Marquette. Washington selected Hayward 30th overall in 2010, then immediately traded him to Minnesota, where he spent one season before getting dealt to OKC.
Fellow Western New York natives Jonny Flynn and Ike Diogu were also released within the last week, around the NBA.
