Maryland used a 21-3 run to break a halftime tie and cruise past Niagara Tuesday night, winning 86-70 in the first round of the N.I.T.

The Purple Eagles held the lead for much of the first half and entered halftime with the game tied at 35.

NU never recovered from the Terps' early second-half surge, finishing the season with a 19-14 record.

Antoine Mason scored a game-high 24 points, while Ameen Tanksley chipped in 18 points - including seven three-pointers.

Niagara will return the majority of its roster next season, including its five leading scorers.
