Sabres defenseman Andrej Sekera became the third Buffalo player to sign overseas during the lockout, inking a deal with HC Slovan Bratislava in the KHL.
The contract, like all others during the lockout, will end as soon as the NHL lockout is officially over.
Sekera, who registered 3 goals and 10 assists in 69 games with Buffalo last season, joins Tyler Ennis and Christian Ehrhoff as current Sabres playing overseas.
Less than a dozen Sabres players are still skating regularly around the area, now that most of the younger players have joined the Rochester Americans in the AHL.
One that remains is Ville Leino, who admits he has been thinking about playing overseas as well during the lockout.
"Yeah, I'm thinking about it," said Leino. "We'll see if something in the Swedish League opens up."
The NHL canceled the remainder of the preseason schedule today, with labor talks scheduled to start up again Friday.
