BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Wednesday was supposed to be a day off for the Sabres players. Instead, they put in a full work-out and video session, trying to find some way to snap out of this slump.

Buffalo has lost seven of the last eight games after starting the season with two wins.

"We know we're digging out of a hole," said Head Coach Lindy Ruff.  "There was lots of stuff to go over."

The Sabres rank last in the league in faceoffs, winning just 41.3% of their draws - a full 4% worse than the next-to-last team. Buffalo also ranks last in goals-against average at 3.70.

"Slowly cleaning up little areas," said goalie Ryan Miller.  "When we do address something, it does get better. Seem to be a lot of things to address right now."

The Sabres host Montreal Thursday night at 7pm.
