Buffalo receives 5th round draft pick in return

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Buffalo Sabres sent T.J. Brennan packing Friday night, trading the 23-year old defenseman to Florida in exchange for a 5th-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Brennan was the team's second-round draft choice in 2007. He scored one goal in ten games this season with the Sabres.

Buffalo would have had to place Brennan on waivers in order to send him back to the minors, making it likely that a team such as Florida would have claimed him.

The Sabres host Ottawa Saturday at 3pm.a
