BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Sabres had a day off from practice Thursday, but still managed to keep busy, placing defenseman Adam Pardy on waivers.
Pardy proved to be the odd man out, after Buffalo started training camp with nine defensemen on the roster.
He never played a game in Buffalo after being acquired during the offseason in the Derek Roy/Steve Ott trade.
The move leaves Buffalo with eight defensemen in training camp, with final rosters due tomorrow. Teams need to whittle their rosters to 23 players. Buffalo has 25 at the moment, but Nathan Gerbe and Cody McCormick could both start the season in the injured list.
The Sabres also placed minor leaguers Kevin Porter and Nick Tarnasky on waivers. If all three players clear the 24-hour waivers, they will be sent back to Buffalo's AHL team in Rochester.
