BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - This past weekend, Buffalo hosted a Junior Hockey All-Star Game. The youngest player on the ice could be Buffalo's next shining star.

The jersey number shows Andy Sturtz's age. That jersey flying by other all-stars three and four years older shows his skill. The Kenmore East sophomore is emerging as a bright young star.

Jerry Shorthouse, Buffalo Stars Coach, said, "For right now, at his age he's really excelled. He's out here today playing with 19 and 20-year-olds and I thought he was one of the better players on the ice today."

At the Continental Hockey League All-Star Game, Andy set up his team's only goal.

Andy said, "Just more physical. A little bit faster. I kind of knew coming in that it would be [an adjustment].”

Andy is seriously being scouted by college hockey teams and the Ontario Hockey League. The OHL is his likely next stop and if things go well, in three years he’ll be drafted into the NHL.

“With what he’s showing, the way his development goes, if he stays on his path, you could never write a kid off. This kid is about everything you could do. He’s headed in the right direction and now we just see where his career path takes him as he matures as a player and as a person. Who knows?” said Shorthouse.

If Andy is Buffalo's next hockey star, he's got a familiar inspiration.

“I used to see Pat Kane because we used to live right next to his dad’s dealership. I used to see him all the time with his bag. Once he made it to the NHL, it kind of inspired me a little bit,” said Andy.
