BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - News 4 has learned that Sabres Coach Lindy Ruff will not be behind the bench Wednesday night at First Niagara Center, as the Sabres take on the Bruins.
Assistant coach James Patrick will run the team from the bench.
Ruff may be in the building watching the game from his office, though that is not certain at this point.
Ruff broke three ribs after hitting the ice hard following a collision with defenseman Jordan Leopold in practice on Monday.
Sabres Forward Thomas Vanek skated with the team Wednesday, but will not play Wednesday night. He may be ready to go by this weekend.
