Friday's tough, physical game against the Flyers took a toll on the Sabres.  Craig RIvet and Paul Gaustad were injured and will be out of the lineup.   Before Saturday's game against Carolina, Lindy Ruff said that Gaustad (knee) will be out for a "couple of weeks."  Rivet (knee, ankle) will at least miss the Hurricanes game, but his injury is not as severe as first believed.

Neither will play against Carolina.  Ruff said Rivet's injuries "are not as bad" as they looked when Rivet skated feet-first into the boards in Philadelphia. He skated Saturday, and Ruff said he was sore. He may be able to resume playing this weekk.

Late Saturday afternoon, the NHL suspended Patrick Kaleta two games for his hit on the Flyers' Jared Ross.  Kaleta received a game misconduct for boarding.  Ross was knocked out of the game.  He will also miss Monday's game in Toronto.

Gaustad's knee injury also happened in the Philly game.  Its a tough loss for Buffalo, as Gaustad's six goals were second on the team and he led the NHL in faceoff percentage.

Nathan Paetsch and Andrej Sekera will play against the Hurricanes.  Matt Ellis may also play, because Ruff believes that Patrick Kaleta may face an NHL suspension from his game misconduct in Philadelphia.  He was thrown out of the game for boarding.

Ryan Miller is expected to play goal.
