BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The NYS Attorney General is working behind the scenes to help mediate the dispute between Time Warner Cable and MSG.
Western New Yorkers who have Time Warner have lost the ability to watch the Buffalo Sabres as a result of the breakdown of contract negotiations between MSG and the cable provider. On Thursday, the leadership of the Buffalo Common Council issued a plea to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to get involved and help settle the disagreement.
On Friday, sources told News 4 that Schneiderman has called on both parties to meet in his office next week. A spokesperson for the Attorney General stated, "We have had constructive discussions with Time Warner Cable and MSG Networks as part of an ongoing effort to facilitate progress in their talks. We are hopeful that the two parties will come to an agreement in short order so that Sabres, Rangers, and Knicks games are available to subscribing New Yorkers as soon as possible."
MSG released a statement, saying, "We appreciate the Attorney General’s offer to meet with us to discuss our dispute with Time Warner Cable and we look forward to meeting with him."
