BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - The Buffalo Sabres are keeping 18-year-old rookie Mikhail Grigorenko on the roster.
Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier told reporters that the team's No. 1 pick last June will be in the lineup tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Grigorenko's entry-level contract kicks in and he will not return to his junior team, the Quebec Remparts. He will make a pro-rated $925,000 this season.
The team had to make a decision, after Grigorenko played the first five games of the season. That is the maximum amount this season for a player to play, and still be eligible to return to the junior ranks.
