BUFFALO, NY (WIVB.com) - After 16 years as the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres, Lindy Ruff said farewell before the media at the First Niagara Center. He thanked many people who impacted his career including the ownership, GM Darcy Regier and the fans.

Ruff said, "Thanks to all the fans over all these years.  I owe you.  You made this a special place to coach."

In the speech he reflected on both his history with the team, as well as the string of recent losses, expressing disappointment in the fact that he couldn't produce more wins this season.

While his tenure with Sabres has ended, it is unclear what the future will hold for the 53-year-old Buffalo legend.

"I miss it already." said Ruff. "I know most people wouldn't but I watched hockey the first night. It's hard. It's a tough feeling. But I got to keep going. I love the game."
