BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Boys and girls adapted a winter sport for summer conditions in downtown Buffalo.
The Buffalo Sabres held their eleventh annual Street Hockey Fest Sunday outside First Niagara Center. Each team could have four players, including the goalie.
Some chose an optional substitute to provide relief, but Ethan Kirbis' team was on the street for the entire game.
"Lot of fun. Lots of shots. Lot of work. We don't have any subs so that's hard. We play a lot of kids that we know. It's fun," Kirbis said.
Divisions start with 6-year-olds and continue all the way to the "17 and under" level. Each player received a t-shirt and hat, and winning teams received trophies.
