BUFFALO (WIVB) - For the first time since November, the Sabres have won three games in a row. They did it by pulling off a big two goal, third period comeback. Trailing 2-0, Buffalo rallied to beat Dallas 3-2 in a shootout.
Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy scored in the third to tie the game, while Nathan Gerbe's shootout goal was the winner. The Sabres are now 5-0-1 in their last six games.
Dallas took a 2-0 lead on goals by Michael Ryder and Tomas Vincour. But shortly after Vincour's third period tally, Thomas Vanek tipped in a Jason Pominville shot for a power play score to make it 2-1. Then, in the final minute with Ryan Miller on the bench, Roy put in the rebound of a Tyler Myers point shot with :39 seconds left.
The game went to a shootout, and into the fifth round of the shootout. Gerbe scored on a backhand, then Ryder's shot went wide.
Lindy Ruff once again coached from the press box, with James Patrick behind the bench.
The Sabres host Tampa on Saturday.
