HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - Our April scholar athlete comes from Hamburg High School. Next year, Eric Chadderdon is headed to Ohio State on a lacrosse scholarship. He is one of the best in western New York, on and off the field.
Chadderdon said, "I love lacrosse because of the physical aspect of the game. It's fast paced. It's just fun to play. I've loved it ever since I started. I love taking the ball away from the guys. Dictating what they're going to do. Matchup up against the best guys every time."
Lacrosse coach Jerry Severino said, "I've been blessed with Eric. A lot of our kids model themselves after Eric because hes such a good role model. He came to me in 8th grade, earned a starting position at the varsity level, and hasn't been off the field since then."
"Oh, I'm very excited. Ohio State is a great place. It has endless academic opportunities for me. It should be fun. I've had great teachers over the years, who have really helped me along the way. They always pushed me to do my best. I've been told since I was little that athletics will open doors, but academics will help you get through those and help you in the future," said Chadderdon.
Severino added, "When you come from a family like Eric comes from, all levels are very high. Athletically, academically, socially, they dont get any better than Eric."
Chadderdon and the Bulldogs are 8-2 so far this season and looking for their fifth straight sectional title.
