BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Recently, City Honors High School was named one of the best in the nation. One of their shining stars is a four-sport athlete and outstanding student named Nikolas Akbarran.
Akbarran said, "On the field, I like to lead by example. I definitely like to work hard. I think it's important if everyone else sees you working hard and you lead by example everyone else will follow you. Soccer is by far my favorite. I've been playing it the longest, since I was little. I picked up basketball in high school, and I just recently started playing baseball again and I ran track. So I definitely like all those, but soccer is my favorite."
City Honors baseball coach Frank Dileo said, "It's rare that a student will be able to compete and excel in four sports in high school. Nick's been able to do that. Soccer, basketball, track and field and baseball."
City Honors basketball coach John Kudla said, "Nick as a basketball athlete is one of our captains for our team. Had tremendous upside. Put the team first I thought ahead of the other players. He led our team in steals with 3.4 steals per game."
"Ever since I was young, my dad made sure I got good grades. Both my parents made sure I got good grades. I've had help outside of school, too. A lot of it comes naturally to me," said Akbarran.
