BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - John Tavares is entering his 22nd season with the Buffalo Bandits - but this will be his first as the team captain.
The Bandits announced today, their all-time leading scorer will be the team's primary captain this season. Scott Self and Shawn Williams will serve as alternate captains.
Tavares has scored nearly 20 percent of the goals in Bandits history, and holds the league record with 765 career goals.
Buffalo opens the 2013 season this Friday at Philadelphia, before returning home Saturday to host Minnesota.
