AMHERST, NY (WIVB) - If the Bulls want to go bowling for the second straight year, they'll have to start by throwing a strike against Bowling Green. The 3-5 Bulls host the 3-5 Falcons Tuesday night at U.B. Stadium. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
The Bulls likely need to win their last four games to have any hopes to play in a bowl game. A 7-5 final record would put U.B. in contention for one of the Mid-American Conference's bowl spots, or make them appealing to another bowl looking for a team.
Repeating as the MAC East division champion seems unlikely, with division leader Temple sporting a 4-0 conference record.
The Bulls offense will have to be in high gear, facing a Bowling Green team that throws the ball more than 50 times a game. The Falcons feature receiver Freddie Barnes, who's 99 catches and 1054 yards lead the NCAA. His 9 TD catches are second.
The Bulls are banged up, but running back Ike Nduka should be ready to go. He's run for over 100 yards in three of the last four games. Not even expected to play last week at Western Michigan, Nduka tied his career high with 172 yards.
The Bulls will be without backup cornerback Joe Petit and defensive end Jerry Housey. Backup running backs Brandon Thermilus and Mario Henry are questionable with ankle injuries.
Bulls receiver Naaman Roosevelt is just 42 yards away from breaking Drew Haddad's UB career record for receiving yards.
