ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - The last time West Seneca East won a Sectional Championship on the gridiron, running back Scott Ackerman's dad was on the team.
The Trojans' last title came in 1981 - they haven't even played in the finals since 1987. This Friday, WSE will get a chance to end both those droughts.
"It hasn't hit me yet," said Ackerman. "The magnitude of this game is really big for our school, we haven't had anything like this in a long time."
"To leave this type of tradition for the younger guys, it'd be awesome," said senior lineman Andrew Theal.
The Trojans play Sweet Home in the Section VI, Class A Finals Friday night at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
