Watt on NBA Draft Bubble

Former UB Star Could Be Second Round Pick

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Former UB basketball star Mitchell Watt is hoping to hear his name called in Thursday's NBA Draft.

The MAC Player of the Year could be a second round pick.  He worked out for ten teams leading up to the draft, including both NBA Finals teams, Miami and Oklahoma City.

Being chosen in the NBA Draft would continue an incredible comeback story.  Earlier in his college career, Watt was diagnosed with Guillain–Barré Syndrome, leaving him barely able to walk, let alone play basketball.

"If you would have asked me four months ago if I was going to be at this point, I probably would have said 'no,' but I've just been taking full advantage of every opportunity that's been given to me," said Watt.  "It has been a whirlwind."

Watt tells News 4 Sports, teams have given him positive feedback on his skill-set, but most teams would like him to get stronger to play in the post.

Watt will watch the draft with his family Thursday night in Phoenix.
